Our first outside meal and BBQ of the season |
Last night being 6 |
Actually, on March 1 we celebrated with Welsh Cakes for Saint David's Day. Thankfully my cousin reminded me as I have never celebrated before. My mother's father was Welsh. Lily-Anna helped me make them and we all enjoyed them.
Lily-Anna and I were able to book same-day Covid tests this past Monday due to some cold symptoms. Thankfully we received the good news of our negative results this afternoon and the symptoms have all abated. This also meant that all three kids have been home from school this week, though doing some work online.
We look forward to the next one coming in September |
We will all be happy to have a normal school day tomorrow before the long weekend. (Actually one of my children would still love to stay home.) We are hoping there will still be in-class teaching on Tuesday but in case there is another lockdown, the kids will bring home everything from school to make an easy transition to on-line learning possible if it is necessary. It's been said that we are in the third wave of Covid.
I am happy that my in-laws are having their first vaccinations this weekend and my parents will have theirs early next week. I will be ready for mine when it's my turn, hopefully by the start of summer. We were able to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday with some cake and a socially distanced visit.
This is our first March since Isaac started school that we haven't had a March Break. The kids didn't seem to mind. Isaac said the weather should be better in April.
I had my first upper GI endoscopy and a colonscopy this month. I was worried about the endoscopy but God provided and answered all my prayers. I don't remember a thing after being given my sedation until I woke up in recovery. I am really looking forward to talking to my doctor and finding out if I responded to him or the nurses during the procedure as they told me that I would be able to respond. It would be quite amazing if I responded but have no memory of that. My telephone appointment is not until May but the initial report said that there were no concerns thankfully.
I did an 8-week health challenge that ended on March 8. I was so diligent (to the extreme) to follow the guidelines and get all of my points, which was definitely not the same as trying to be as healthy as possible. I am very motivated by points but at the moment, I am either on or off. I was really looking forward to the challenge being over so that I could eat whatever I wanted and that's exactly what I have done since the 8th, to my detriment.
I will soon be looking at the study, "Get Out of Your Head" by Jennie Allen. Hopefully that will help me make some wiser choices about my food intake and my thoughts surrounding this.
This helped us win a DQ gift cert. from Kohen's piano instructor. |
I am excited to celebrate Good Friday and Easter Sunday this weekend. Our church has been studying the book of Exodus together, finishing this week. I've liked being reminded of God's incredible salvation from slavery and daily provision for the Israelites, His willingness and desire to meet with and instruct His children, the incredible details for the tabernacle and the sacrifices, and the magnitude of sin and its results. Thank You Jesus for being our lamb, for being our sacrifice, for dying. Please remind me of the cost of my sin and all that You accomplished in freeing us from slavery. Help me to live in freedom and to help others find it. In Jesus' name, amen.
Happy Easter!
Blessings,
Elizabeth
John 10:10-11
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
