Traditions

This is how I found Josiah this morning.  He was very happy to not have his nasal prongs in his nose.  You can see them by the bottom of his right cheek.  I retaped them (after taking his photo).

I'm afraid I don't have any news from SickKids about Josiah.  I left a message for his doctor.  Hopefully I'll be able to connect with him tomorrow to find out the results of Monday's conference.

We had a lovely anniversary.  Our day nurse stayed until 6:00 PM and then an evening nurse was here until 9:00 PM so Graham and I went out for dinner and enjoyed delicious Indian food.  We then went to Play with Clay in Guelph where we each made a mug from clay.  We'll have to go back at some point to paint them.

I love traditions.  Our anniversary tradition is to do something creative with the traditional gift.  The interpretation of the gift is quite flexible.  For example, a gift of bronze could be something that is the colour bronze.  The gift for the ninth year is pottery so tonight we made pottery.  I'm not sure if it looks like Graham is smiling in the photo but in case you're wondering, we both had a good time.  The gift for the first anniversary is paper so we have a book that we bought for our first anniversary in which we write a letter to each other every year.  Actually, as we get ready for bed we usually just write, "Dear Elizabeth" and "Dear Graham" at the top of our pages and then we finish the letter another time.  I won't tell you how long it takes us to write the letters!

Josiah and Isaac had good days.  Isaac's volunteer came and played with him this afternoon (this is a lovely retired woman who volunteers with the local hospice).  He thoroughly enjoys her visits.  After that, his aunt took care of him until we returned.

The cake pops were amazing!  I decided to eat it from my china dishes.  The photo doesn't do it justice.

The dietician was here this morning.  Josiah gained a lot of weight again but he's still just under the 50th percentile for height and weight so she's happy.  We're going to try him on Pediasure again tomorrow so hopefully that goes well.  If he takes it well, we'll also try switching to a three and a half or four hour feeding schedule in a week or two.  Right now it's a little frustrating all of the time he spends just eating and being fed.  It would be wonderful if these two changes went smoothly.

Thank you for your prayers!
