Without reservation

It was nice to be at church this morning.  Josiah was a little extra squirmy but we were able to keep him in the service until the songs ended.  We were all able to nap at the same time this afternoon.  We've decided it would be amazing to have a nurse on Sundays from around 1:00 - 9:00 PM.  We would still go together to church in the morning but then we could relax in the afternoon and hopefully Graham, Isaac, and I could go to church together in the evening.  I'll ask the nursing agency we use if there's anyone available during this slot.

Josiah had a good day.  He had some nice big laughs when I was tickling him this afternoon.

I tell Isaac that I love him always and forever and those words are in a song I sing to him.  Tonight when he returned from church he had a secret to whisper in my ear: "I love Mommy forever."  He was quite pleased with himself.  He obviously knows how to butter me up because his next secret for my other ear at 7:45 PM (after his bedtime) was "I want to play with the garage."

I just finished reading a book of quotations.  I like what Basilea Schlink said:  "You are a child of your heavenly Father.  Your faith in his love and power can never be bold enough."  Our God is awesome.  These are good words to ponder as I think about Tuesday.  I confess that part of me wonders if the imaging will find something new that we don't know about and will require intervention.  Elton Trueblood said, "Faith is not belief without proof, but trust without reservation."  Oh what joy there must be to fully trust God without an ounce of reservation.

I was thinking more about the play we saw the other night.  Clearly I am not so naive as to be shocked by mistresses and affairs.  I think one of my main issues were the number of young children sitting around me in the theatre (who behaved wonderfully).  At one point in the play the main character is doing everything to help the one he loves (she is married to someone else) and he lies and tells another woman he loves her and kisses her passionately and then he sleeps with that woman's boss whilst allowing her to think that he is someone else (he is also attracted to her but needs information from her).  Another character has more than one mistress and this is all dealt with humourously.  This is said to be "suitable for all audiences but of most interest to those aged 10 and up."  It does say there are "some adult situations."  I heard one child in the hallway say that this is her favourite play ever.  I am not shocked but I am sad.  I want Isaac and Josiah to know the sanctity of marriage and to know how a man should treat a woman and to learn that one does not play with another's heart (or body).

Thank you for your continued prayers.  A number of people told me this morning that they are reading the blog.  It's encouraging to hear this and to know that you are keeping us in your prayers.  We are so thankful for your perseverance in praying.

Blessings,

Elizabeth

  1. Hello Elizabeth and Graham.

All nations whom Thou hast made shall come and worship before Thee, O Lord; and shall glorify Thy name.
    Psalm 86:9

Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. Psalm 56 v 3.

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
    Romans 15 v 13.

I pray to our Heavenly Father in Jesus’ name that the comfort of the Holy Spirit will be felt tomorrow as you have a pleasant journey to and from Sick Kids Hospital, and Josiah will remain calm as he has his easily inserted intravenous infusion, echocardiogram and CT scan. May the results be encouraging and may you be enlightened by the cardiologist and dietician. Thank you God for every good thing.

Love and prayers from your auntie Julia.
